The History of Franco-German Twinning
Let's celebrate together two major anniversaries that demonstrate the strength of the ties forged over decades between our cities and our citizens!
For 50 years, Le Chesnay and Heppenheim have shared a common history of exchanges, friendships, and enriching encounters. This half-century of twinning has brought our communities closer together, fostered mutual understanding, and built strong bridges between France and Germany. Today, we celebrate this "golden anniversary" of twinning by paying tribute to all those who, since 1975, have worked with enthusiasm and generosity to bring this wonderful human adventure to life.
At the same time, we are also celebrating 25 years of twinning between Rocquencourt and Heppenheim. For a quarter of a century, this partnership has enabled us to increase the number of meetings, joint projects, and moments of conviviality, strengthening the bonds of friendship and esteem between our twin towns every year.
"These strengthened ties foster friendships between residents and motivate teachers, parents, children, association presidents, members, and citizens. These ties promote greater tolerance, kindness, and generosity. They make us better people."
These anniversaries are an opportunity to warmly thank all the volunteers, elected officials, host families, and partners who contribute to the success of these twinning arrangements. Together, let us continue to write the history of our cities and pass on to future generations the spirit of openness, sharing, and friendship that drives our twinning arrangements.
Happy birthday to everyone!
